GSA SmartPay cards can be processed just like other credit cards.
You will need to establish a relationship with a credit card processor or bank. Your bank may resell this service to you. However, be careful! You may be able to reduce your costs dramatically if you negotiate directly with a
credit card processor.
You will need to provide the credit card processor with information about what volume and dollar amount of transactions you expect to process. Then you will negotiate the fees that they will charge.
You will provide the credit card processor with information about your bank account where they will deposit the funds.
The credit card processor may provide you with a terminal to swipe credit cards. You only need this if you will normally be presented with a credit card by your customers. Otherwise, if you normally key in a customer's credit card number, a terminal is an unnecessary expense.
Even if you already process credit cards, be sure to see "
How do I cut costs with SmartPay?" in order to manage the costs associated with typical SmartPay transactions.
