GSA SmartPay is the Federal Government’s new Credit Card payment program.

• It cuts paperwork and gets vendors paid quickly.
• With SmartPay, government vendors and merchants are paid within a few days instead of a few months.
• Over $16 Billion in goods and services were paid for with GSA SmartPay credit cards last year.
• The government alone saved $1.3 Billion in 2002. The savings and benefits to the vendors are immense.

Government vendors may set up with most banks or credit card processors to receive payments using these cards. However, be sure you read "How do I cut costs with SmartPay?" before selecting a processor or even if you already have a processor.


This program replaces the International Merchant Purchase Authorization Card (IMPAC), American Express Travel Card, and the U.S. Government Fleet Services Card (Wright Express). Federal card holders will use the GSA SmartPay program to pay for

• commercial goods and services
• travel related expenses
• fleet expenses
